The Cumberland
Greek Revival style was extremely popular across the United States in the mid-19th century. It became the favorite style of the American farmhouse, and is an icon of American house style. The classic lines of this easy-to-build home fit in any neighborhood.
The Cumberland combines the best qualities of Greek Revival design (simple footprint, low-pitched gable roof, strong, clean detailing) with the flow and function of an RTA Plans design.
A restrained enty hall leads straight back to a wide open kitchen/family room/casual dining area. As with all RTA Plans, a spacious, functional mudhall connects the center of the house to the garage and to the outside. The Cumberland adds a wide porch covering a second front entry.
On the second floor, a guest suite occupies a secluded location over the garage. Both kids' bedrooms have walk-in closets and private baths; the master suite has separate his-and-hers walk-in closets.
